Stockton E-waste
Electronic waste or E-waste refer to old and end-of-life electronic appliances like computers, televisions, laptops, DVD and mp3 players and mobile phones among others, that have been disposed by its original users.
The composition of e-waste is very diverse because it contains more than 1, 000 different substances that fall under the hazardous and non-hazardous categories. Those under the hazardous category were found to have adverse effects on the human body and the environment. A computer unit, for example, contains toxic chemicals like lead, cadmium, mercury, beryllium and phosphor compounds.
But there is always a cost to pay for progress. Stockton that used to be an agricultural community grew its economy over the years. It has since diversified its economy to already include telecommunications and manufacturing among others. While the city continues its growth, its 315,592 residents should never forget the need for environmental protection. One way to do this is by ensuring proper E-waste disposal.
Let us help protect our city. Bring your E-wastes to the Rock of Hope City Church free electronics recycling collection event.
