Lake Forest E-waste
Lake Forest got its name from two man-made lakes and a man-made forest that are found in the city. Its forest is located between the Ridge Route, Jeronimo, Lake Forest, and Serrano roads and grows most Eucalyptus trees. Its forest started growing in the 1900s after land owner Dwight Whiting started planting Eucalyptus on 400-acres of land.
In the 1960s, the Occidental Petroleum Company started the development of a residential community around the Eucalyptus groves. Its forest has grown denser since then.
The city’s neighborhood associations now manage their lakes – the Lake Forest Beach and Tennis Club and the Sun and Sail Club. Each facility is equipped with tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; gyms; barbecue pits; multiple swimming pools; saunas; hot tubs and club houses for use in social events.
Anything that will destroy the city’s lakes and forest is a cause for alarm for city residents. The Home Depot – Lake Forest is hosting an E-waste recycling event to make sure that pollutants will not reach its attractions.
