Google Invests in Wind Farm
Google announced today that the company and its two Japanese partners (Itochu and Sumitomo) will pay the General Electric Company $500 million dollars in exchange for a large equity stake in the world’s largest wind farm.
The wind farm, which will be located on over 30 miles of land in north-central Oregon, hopes to generate enough energy to power 235,000 homes. Eventually, the turbines will provide power to Southern California Edison.
Google has jumped on the clean energy bandwagon—recently investing $350 million in this project, and a solar project near Berlin.
