More Children Using High Tech Devices

Do your kids use high tech devices?

According to Common Sense Media, 40 percent of two to four year olds and 50 percent of five to eight year olds have used smartphones, video iPods, iPads, or similar devices.

Televisions and iPads both mean more screen time for kids, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.

“The simple act of sitting and watching something from which they are not developmentally ready could harm the acquisition of other important skills — communication skills, reading skills,” said Doctor Tom Welch from Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Not to mention this contributes to the growing e-waste problem!

Would you let a toddler use an iPad or a smartphone on a regular basis?
